ACB Crackdown Triggers Panic Among Officials

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has stepped up its campaign against disproportionate assets in Andhra Pradesh, registering multiple cases in recent weeks and uncovering assets allegedly worth hundreds of crores in market value. Officials say the investigations have exposed extensive holdings, including agricultural land, residential plots, commercial investments and business interests. Several recent cases involving public servants have revealed a wide gap between officially declared asset values and their estimated market worth, drawing significant public attention.

As investigations intensify, sources indicate that some accused officials are exploring various legal and financial options to safeguard their assets. These reportedly include transferring properties through benami holders, executing gift deeds, relying on old property documents and seeking advice from chartered accountants and financial experts. Investigators, however, maintain that financial transactions and ownership records remain interconnected, making it possible to trace the complete chain of assets. ACB officials assert that once credible evidence is established, attempts to conceal illegally acquired wealth become increasingly difficult.
