A major controversy has erupted at the Nashik campus of Tata Consultancy Services, where several employees have been arrested over serious allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversions. Police detained seven employees, including an HR manager, following complaints from multiple women. The company has responded by suspending the accused employees and stated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards workplace harassment. TCS also confirmed that it is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
According to police reports, the case began when a female employee filed a complaint alleging she was deceived under the pretext of marriage. During the investigation, seven more women came forward with similar allegations, including inappropriate touching, obscene remarks, body shaming, and coercion regarding food habits. An undercover operation by the police, involving women officers in disguise, led to one accused being caught red-handed, while over 40 CCTV footages are under review. The incident has drawn attention from IT employee unions, who have urged Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to conduct a comprehensive audit of workplace safety across IT firms. Natarajan Chandrasekaran termed the incident deeply concerning, and confirmed that an internal probe is underway under senior leadership, including COO Aarthi Subramanian.
