Indian space-tech startup Skyroot Aerospace has secured major global investor backing as it prepares for its ambitious Vikram-1 mission. The latest funding round was jointly led by Sherpalo Ventures, owned by renowned tech investor and Alphabet board member Ram Shriram, along with Singapore government investment firm GIC. Other prominent investors participating in the round include BlackRock, Greenko founders, Arkam Ventures, Playbook Partners, and Sanghvi Family Office. As part of the investment deal, Ram Shriram is expected to join the Skyroot board, strengthening the company’s global strategic network.
The funding round highlights Skyroot’s rapid growth trajectory, with the company’s valuation witnessing a sharp rise within just three years. During its $51 million Series-B funding round in 2023, Skyroot was valued at $519 million, approximately ₹4,812 crore. The valuation has now nearly doubled, reflecting growing confidence in India’s private space sector. Earlier this year, global asset management giant BlackRock also extended a ₹100 crore loan to the company. Founded by Naga Bharath Daka and Pawan Kumar Chandana, Skyroot is now focused on the launch of Vikram-1, a key milestone in India’s commercial space ambitions.
