Although employment opportunities in India's technology sector are improving, IT companies are changing their hiring strategy for fresh graduates. According to a report by job portal Foundit, overall tech recruitment demand has grown by 10% year on year, but the share of freshers' hiring in the traditional IT sector has dropped from 32% to 24%, resulting in a significant decline in entry level opportunities.

AI Drives Demand for Skilled Professionals

The rise of automation and artificial intelligence has reduced the need for freshers in basic coding and testing roles, as these tasks are increasingly handled by AI tools. At the same time, sectors such as banking, healthcare, and Global Capability Centres are attracting more tech graduates. Companies are now prioritising professionals with 7–10 years of experience, making AI, data science, and cloud computing skills essential for aspiring IT professionals.
