Solvent Extractors’ Association of India reported a significant rise in edible oil imports during March, which stood at 1,173,168 tonnes. This marks a 12 percent increase compared to 1,045,281 tonnes imported in March last year. The surge reflects growing domestic demand and market dynamics influencing import volumes.
However, the association noted that rising global prices of edible oils and increased transportation costs could lead to a decline in imports in the coming months. The trend highlights the impact of international market conditions on India’s edible oil supply and pricing, with stakeholders closely monitoring future fluctuations.
