PL Capital Group CMD Amisha Vora has advised new equity investors to begin investing as soon as they start earning and remain focused on long-term wealth creation rather than chasing trending market news. She stressed the importance of diversification, understanding the companies one invests in and giving investments years rather than months to generate meaningful returns. According to her, investors should avoid short-term market noise and rumours, review their portfolios periodically and refrain from trying to time the market. She also called for greater participation by women in household financial decisions and the broader financial services sector.
On the outlook for Indian equities over the next 12–18 months, Vora said the market has gained more than 7% in the past two months, supported by hopes of easing tensions in West Asia and softer crude oil prices. She sees opportunities in banking and financial services, along with capital goods and defence, while mentioning ICICI Bank, SBI, L&T and Titan among large-cap stocks investors could examine for the long term. She also highlighted Garware Hi-Tech Films, Park Hotels, Rajesh Power Services and Blue Star as companies to watch. However, she cautioned that rising crude prices, weak rainfall and a potential slowdown in corporate earnings could create volatility, making diversification and disciplined portfolio reviews essential.
