India's gold demand fell by 6 percent year-on-year to 131 tonnes during the June quarter, according to the World Gold Council's Gold Demand Trends report. The report attributed the decline to persistently high gold prices and market volatility, which prompted many consumers to postpone jewellery purchases despite continued interest in the precious metal.
Even though physical demand weakened, the overall value of gold purchases reached a record high because of rising prices. The value of gold demand increased from ₹1.32 lakh crore in the June quarter of last year to ₹1.98 lakh crore this year, marking a 50 percent jump and highlighting the impact of elevated bullion prices on the Indian market.
Note: Gold prices change frequently based on market conditions. Please check the latest rates with your local jeweller or authorised sources before making a purchase.
