A senior government official stated that the Central Government has decided to establish value-added critical minerals processing parks in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s critical minerals supply chain and enhance their domestic utilisation. Mines Secretary Piyush Goyal said that setting up processing centres for critical minerals is of utmost importance for India’s industrial and strategic growth.
He explained that without adequate processing infrastructure, raw critical minerals sourced domestically or internationally cannot be effectively utilised, and exports would also become difficult. The government has allocated ₹500 crore under the National Critical Mineral Mission for the establishment of four processing parks across the country. He further revealed that suitable locations for these parks were finalised during a meeting held on April 22 with the governments of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
