Bank of Baroda Faces Massive Data Leak Allegations

A major data breach has reportedly hit Bank of Baroda, with a hacking group named “TripleX” claiming responsibility. According to the group, nearly 1TB of sensitive internal banking data has been leaked on the dark web, potentially affecting 1–3 lakh customers. A dark web monitoring platform, Ransomware.live, stated that the leaked data includes customer applications, photographs, identity documents, Aadhaar details, savings and current account information, loan records, and net banking credentials. The breach is also said to include NRI and corporate banking documents, along with certain confidential internal records.

Cybersecurity experts have termed the incident a “cyber disaster,” noting that audit reports, loan recommendation files, vigilance investigation records, and internal audit documents may also be compromised. However, the bank clarified that only an employee’s email account was hacked and that its core banking systems remain secure. In a statement on X, the bank assured that strong IT security protocols are in place and a detailed forensic investigation is underway in coordination with relevant authorities. Meanwhile, regulators like Reserve Bank of India and CERT-In have not yet confirmed the breach.
