Apple Takes a Bold New Step with the Foldable iPhone

Apple has finally entered the foldable smartphone segment with the launch of the iPhone Duo. The company unveiled the device at its annual ‘Surprise and Shine’ event held on Wednesday at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. It is the first product launched by Apple after John Ternus took charge as the company’s new CEO. The iPhone Duo features an A20 Pro processor, a 48 megapixel rear camera and a 12 megapixel front camera, along with separate batteries for its two displays. The phone will be available globally with eSIM only connectivity. It measures 5.4 inches when folded and expands to a 7.6 inch Super Retina XDR display when opened. The 256GB base variant is priced at $1,999, making it the most expensive iPhone in Apple’s history. It will be available in Star White and Night Sky and is set to hit markets worldwide, including India, on the 23rd of this month.

Alongside the foldable phone, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The models come with iOS 27, the A20 Pro processor, improved battery performance, enhanced hardware capabilities and 48 megapixel camera systems. They will be offered in Deep Black, Silver, Glacier Blue and Burgundy, with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options. Pre-orders will begin on the 12th of this month, with sales starting on the 18th. Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra with enhanced health and fitness features, along with Apple Audio Intelligence. Pre-orders for the watches begin on Wednesday, with market availability from the 18th. The company also launched AirPods 5 with improved noise-cancellation capabilities, with pre-orders starting Wednesday and sales beginning on the 18th.
