Akkineni Nagarjuna’s recent remarks at a film event about the way movies are made have triggered a fresh discussion in the Telugu film industry. He recalled that in the past, the first copy of a film would often be ready nearly a month before its theatrical release. According to his view, completing shoots well in advance gives the team enough time to focus on post-production and make necessary improvements to the final product.

Today, several films reportedly take years to complete, with dubbing, editing, background score and other post-production work sometimes continuing until just a few weeks before release. Industry observers feel that prolonged shooting schedules, reshoots and last-minute changes can place considerable pressure on technical departments. Following a more organised production plan and handing over completed portions to post-production teams early could help improve the overall quality of films, according to industry discussions.
