Apple has taken an unusual pricing approach in India this year. Instead of reducing the prices of older models after launching a new iPhone lineup, the company has increased the prices of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air and iPhone 16 after the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series. The 256GB iPhone 17 has gone up from Rs 82,900 to Rs 99,900, while the 512GB variant has increased from Rs 1,02,900 to Rs 1,24,900. The iPhone Air has also seen a steep hike, with the 256GB model rising from Rs 1,19,900 to Rs 1,49,900 and the 1TB variant reaching Rs 2,24,900.
The 256GB iPhone 17e now costs Rs 79,900, up from Rs 64,900, while the 512GB model has increased from Rs 84,900 to Rs 1,04,900. The 128GB iPhone 16 has risen from Rs 69,900 to Rs 89,900. Rising prices of memory chips and other key components are believed to be among the reasons behind the price hikes, amid strong demand for chips and memory from AI infrastructure and data centres. Meanwhile, pre-bookings for the iPhone 18 Pro will begin at 5:30 pm on September 12, with deliveries starting September 18. iPhone Duo pre-bookings will begin on October 16, followed by deliveries from October 23.
