Following a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices due to crude oil fluctuations, several airlines had temporarily reduced their flight operations. Now, with oil prices stabilizing after easing West Asian tensions, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson has said the airline may reconsider its earlier capacity cuts.
He noted that restoring services would depend on further reductions in ATF prices and the removal of airspace restrictions imposed by various countries. Last month, Air India had announced a temporary reduction of 27% in international flights and 22% in domestic operations. Wilson also expressed hope that geopolitical tensions in West Asia do not escalate again. Meanwhile, the airline is set to introduce new Boeing 787-9 aircraft along with eight upgraded wide-body planes this year.
