The BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have officially confirmed a three-match T20I series between India and Afghanistan, beginning on September 13, 2026. All three matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, with the fixtures scheduled for September 13, 15 and 17. Interestingly, Afghanistan will be the designated host despite the series being played in India. This is the first time Afghanistan will officially host India on Indian soil.
Afghanistan have frequently used venues outside their country for home internationals due to logistical and security constraints, with India serving as an important base. The BCCI has also consistently supported the development of Afghan cricket. BCCI president Mithun Manhas said the board remains committed to providing Afghan players with opportunities to compete at the international level, while BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia welcomed the series and highlighted the competitive nature of India-Afghanistan contests. The confirmation also puts India’s proposed Bangladesh tour in doubt.
