Microsoft has announced that support for Office 2021 will officially end on October 13, 2026. After this date, the company will no longer provide security updates, bug fixes, technical assistance, or software improvements for any edition of Office 2021. While the applications will continue to function, users may face increased security risks as newly discovered vulnerabilities will no longer be addressed.
Microsoft stated that there will be no Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme for Office 2021. Users will stop receiving protection against threats such as viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. The company is encouraging customers to move to newer Office versions or Microsoft 365, which continue to receive regular security patches, feature updates, and cloud-based enhancements. Businesses, schools, and enterprise users have also been advised to review their upgrade strategies before the deadline.
