Google has rolled out a new AI-powered feature in Google Photos that allows users to create personalised memes using their own photos. Called “Me Meme,” the tool uses generative AI to place a user’s photo into popular meme templates with humorous captions. First reported in October 2025, the feature has now been officially released.
Me Meme joins Google Photos’ growing set of AI tools, including Create with AI, Photo to Video, Remix, and Collage. Users can select a photo, tap the “Create” or “Meme” option, choose from preset templates or upload their own, and customise captions. The AI then generates a classic meme-style image with text placed above and below the photo.
Google clarified that Me Meme is an optional feature and only works on photos selected by the user. It does not generate memes automatically, and AI-created content remains within the Photos app unless users choose to save or share it. Currently, the feature is available only in the US, with no confirmation yet on global rollout or storage impact.
