Although the American software company has no connection to the political protests, the similarity in the word "Cockroach" led to memes and viral posts. An employee of the company also clarified on social media that the firm has no political links, further drawing public attention.

Cockroach Labs is a US-based cloud database software company best known for developing CockroachDB, a distributed SQL database designed for modern cloud applications. The technology is built to keep services running even if individual servers fail, ensuring high availability, automatic recovery, and reliable data management. The company chose the name "Cockroach" to symbolize resilience and survival under extreme conditions.

Founded in 2015 by former Google engineers Spencer Kimball, Peter Mattis, and Ben Darnell, Cockroach Labs remains a privately held company. It was valued at $5 billion during its 2021 Series F funding round.
