Technology giant Apple has achieved another historic milestone by surpassing Nvidia to become the world's most valuable publicly listed company. The company also briefly crossed the $5 trillion market capitalisation mark for the first time, becoming only the second company in history to reach this landmark valuation.
During trading on the US stock market on Tuesday, Apple shares climbed to an intraday high of $342.89, pushing the company's market value to $5.036 trillion. Although the share price eased slightly by the close of trading, bringing the market capitalisation back below $5 trillion, Apple's stock has gained nearly 25% so far in 2026. Analysts attribute the strong performance to sustained profitability, disciplined cost management, and a measured approach to AI spending compared with many of its technology peers.
