Virat Kohli is close to breaking some big records in the ongoing India vs Australia ODI series. He has scored 14,181 runs in 302 ODIs and needs just 54 more runs to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history, overtaking Kumar Sangakkara.
He is also close to beating Sachin Tendulkar’s combined runs in ODIs and T20Is. Currently, Kohli has 18,369 runs, and he needs 68 more runs to pass Tendulkar’s total. He shares the record for most centuries in ODIs (51), and another century would make him the leader in a single format.
Kohli has 29 centuries outside Asia, matching Tendulkar’s record. One more century in this series would make him the Asian batter with the most centuries abroad. This series is also important for him as he prepares for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Even though he got out for a duck in the first ODI in Perth, experts say he should stay calm and focused. Fans are excited to see if he can make history in the remaining matches.
