Mumbai Indians bounced back strongly in the Indian Premier League 2026, ending their losing streak with a dominant 99-run victory over Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
After early setbacks, Tilak Varma played a magnificent unbeaten knock of 101, anchoring the innings brilliantly. Supported by Naman Dhir’s 45, Mumbai posted a competitive total of 199/5 in 20 overs. Tilak accelerated in the final over, smashing boundaries and sixes to complete his maiden IPL century in style.
Chasing 200, Gujarat Titans collapsed early as Jasprit Bumrah struck in the very first over. Ashwani Kumar (4/24) then dismantled the middle order with a superb spell, while Mitchell Santner added crucial breakthroughs to keep the pressure on. Though Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan attempted to stabilize the innings, Ashwani Kumar’s double strike ended Gujarat’s hopes. The team was eventually bowled out for just 100 runs, handing Mumbai a comprehensive win.
Tilak Varma’s century stood out as the defining moment of the match, marking a strong comeback for Mumbai Indians in the tournament.
