India registered a convincing six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the third T20I, securing the series with two matches still remaining. Reacting to the win, Shreyas Iyer praised the Indian openers for their impressive stroke play and attacking approach. He said he had never witnessed a team score 100 runs in just five overs in international cricket. Iyer added that the ball was moving significantly when he and Sanju Samson came in to bat, making the openers’ aggressive performance even more remarkable. He also appreciated the team’s ability to overcome different playing conditions and travel fatigue during overseas tours.
Speaking about India’s bowling strategy, Iyer explained that after the first 10 overs, deliveries pitched at a hard length were being hit for sixes. Recognising the situation, he advised the bowlers to focus on yorkers and wide yorkers. The plan was executed effectively, helping India slow down New Zealand’s scoring rate and keep the opposition below the 200-run mark. The victory highlighted India’s strong team effort with both bat and ball.
