India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reached a historic milestone in international cricket by becoming the eighth Indian bowler to claim 500 wickets across all formats. He achieved this feat during the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-final against England, dismissing England captain Harry Brook with the very first ball of his opening spell in the fifth over. With this achievement, the 32-year-old Ahmedabad pacer joins the elite company of Indian legends like Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, and Javagal Srinath. Since his debut against Australia in 2016, Bumrah has been remarkably consistent, securing 234 wickets in 52 Tests, 149 in 89 ODIs, and 117 in 94 T20Is.
A vital asset in the squad led by Suryakumar Yadav, Bumrah has already taken 10 wickets in six matches this World Cup, including a sensational opening over against Pakistan in Colombo where he dismissed Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha. He continues to hold the record as India's leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history.
