Gulveer Singh Scripts History, Wins India’s First-Ever 10,000m Commonwealth Games Medal

India's Gulveer Singh etched his name in the record books by winning the silver medal in the men's 10,000-metre race at the Commonwealth Games. Clocking 27:49.78, Gulveer became the first Indian athlete to win a medal in the event, marking a historic achievement for Indian athletics. Australia's Kai Robinson claimed the gold medal with a timing of 27:48.93, while David Mullarkey of the Isle of Man secured bronze after finishing in 27:50.28.

The medal is India's second silver in athletics at the ongoing Commonwealth Games, following Sarvesh Kushare's podium finish in the men's high jump. The race also marked the first time since the 1986 Commonwealth Games that no African athlete finished on the podium in the men's 10,000m event. Meanwhile, India faced disappointment in the women's high jump as Pooja Singh failed to clear 1.82 metres, ending her campaign without a medal.
