BCCI to Increase Medical Assistance for Retired Cricketers

The BCCI has decided to increase the one-time financial assistance provided for the medical expenses of retired cricketers from ₹10 lakh to ₹15 lakh. The proposal was put forward by BCCI Apex Council member Chamundeshwarinath at the Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai. The members unanimously approved the proposal, providing additional financial support to former cricketers facing medical expenses.

Chamundeshwarinath also raised another proposal regarding the pension scheme for former first-class cricketers. At present, players who have appeared in at least 25 first-class matches receive a monthly pension of ₹30,000. He sought to extend the scheme to cricketers who played between 5 and 24 first-class matches as well. The proposal is aimed at extending pension benefits to a wider group of former domestic cricketers.
