The Board of Control for Cricket in India has reportedly taken serious note of repeated violations of guidelines by IPL franchise owners during matches. According to BCCI regulations, team owners are not allowed near the dugout during games and must avoid any form of communication with players or support staff through gestures or verbal interaction. However, allegations have surfaced that several franchise owners ignored these rules on multiple occasions, prompting strong displeasure from the board.
BCCI officials stated that photographs showing owners near dugouts and instances of mobile phones being carried onto the field have raised major concerns. Following several unwanted incidents and protocol breaches noticed by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), the board has now tightened regulations. Unauthorized persons are barred from entering hotel rooms of players, support staff, and team officials. Any guest visiting a player’s room must now obtain written permission from the team manager. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has reportedly sent official letters to the CEOs of all 10 IPL franchises warning them of strict action for future violations.
