AP State Election Commission Issues Notification for Municipal Elections

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has issued Notification No. 401/SEC-F1/2026-1, paving the way for the preparation of ward-wise photo electoral rolls for municipal corporations across the state. According to the notification dated August 12, 2026, the ward-wise photo electoral rolls will be published on September 3, 2026. The lists will be used for conducting municipal elections and will also facilitate the government in finalising reservations for the posts of Mayors and ward members.

The electoral rolls will be prepared with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, based on the latest Assembly electoral rolls published and updated from time to time. Municipal Commissioners have been authorised to prepare and publish the ward-wise photo electoral rolls for their respective municipal corporations. In the case of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the concerned Zonal Commissioners have been authorised to prepare and publish the rolls for their respective zones. The State Election Commission will issue further procedural instructions regarding the preparation and publication of the ward-wise electoral rolls.
