Australia Begins Preparations for Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027

Australia has begun its preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027, which will be played in India early next year. Head coach Andrew McDonald said the team has already started planning for the five-match Test series and is focused on adapting to Indian conditions. Instead of playing practice matches after arriving in India, Australia intends to organise a specialised training camp designed to replicate Indian pitches and weather conditions.

McDonald said the final squad would be selected based on players best suited to perform in India rather than solely on performances in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. He added that specialist players would receive preference, while factors such as Big Bash League commitments would also be considered. Australia has not won a Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in India since 2004-05, and the team is determined to end that streak. For India, the series is expected to play a crucial role in its campaign to qualify for the World Test Championship Final.
