Story:
Nawab Cafe revolves around a traditional café in Hyderabad’s Old City run by Ranganath for generations. His son Raja, however, is not interested in taking over the family business and dreams of a different future. Unexpected circumstances force him to take responsibility for the café. How he handles the responsibilities and balances his dreams forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Rajeev Kanakala delivers a strong performance as a responsible father who strives to protect his family’s legacy while dealing with a son who has different aspirations. Shiva Kandukuri impresses with a dual-shaded role, portraying a carefree youngster in the first half and a responsible individual in the later part. The pre-interval sequence and emotional conflict between father and son work well and add some engaging moments to the film.
Minus Points:
The major drawback of the film is its routine narrative and outdated screenplay. Many scenes feel predictable and lack freshness. The director takes too much time to establish the main plot. Comedy scenes in the first half fail to entertain, and the romantic track lacks impact. Emotional portions in the second half do not create the intended effect. The antagonist and heroine roles are weak and fail to leave a strong impression.
Technical Department:
The production values are decent, and the Old City setting is presented well. Music is satisfactory, and the cinematography is good. However, the dialogues and editing could have been better. Though the director shows promise in certain scenes, the overall execution lacks emotional depth.
Verdict:
Overall, Nawab Cafe ends up as a disappointing emotional drama. Despite sincere performances from the lead actors, weak story and narration reduce its impact.
Rating: 2.25/5
