Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected remarks made by Donald Trump that the United States does not require assistance from Kyiv in drone defense. Zelensky stated that Washington, D.C. had approached Ukraine multiple times for support, not only for a specific country but also for American interests. He revealed that last year Ukraine proposed a $35 billion defense cooperation deal to the United States to supply advanced drone technology. According to Zelensky, U.S. military officials showed interest in the proposal and Trump himself had agreed to the deal. However, he said it remains unclear why the agreement has not yet been signed and expressed hope that it could be finalized in the future.
Zelensky also said Ukraine is ready for trilateral peace talks mediated by the United States to address the ongoing conflict with Russia. He noted that Washington proposed holding the discussions in the U.S., but Moscow has so far been reluctant to send representatives. Meanwhile, Russia claimed it shot down 28 drones launched by Ukraine towards Moscow on Sunday. Russian authorities also reported that 47 drones were intercepted in a similar attack a day earlier, highlighting the continuing escalation in the conflict.
