Telangana Minister Captain N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly criticised the developments surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In a press statement released from Hyderabad, he asserted that no one has the right to interfere with people's voting rights or play with their electoral choices. He warned that removing eligible voters' names in the name of electoral roll purification would amount to a violation of their fundamental rights. Uttam demanded clear answers to the allegations surrounding the implementation of SIR and called for the reasons behind every deletion to be made public. He also insisted that voters must be given an opportunity to present their case if their names are removed and that eligible voters whose names were deleted mistakenly should be reinstated without delay.
Uttam Kumar Reddy further said that citizens should not be made to bear the consequences of errors committed by the system. He stressed that protecting every eligible citizen's right to vote is a constitutional responsibility and that concerns over the electoral process must be addressed with evidence and transparency. He praised Rahul Gandhi's efforts to protect voting rights and said his role in bringing together INDIA bloc parties on the issue was significant. Uttam also expressed support for Rahul Gandhi's campaign, demanding a comprehensive examination of allegations concerning electoral roll revisions. He declared that he would continue to question any injustice involving the deletion of eligible voters' names until the mistakes were corrected.
