he Union Budget has given a major push to railway development in Andhra Pradesh, with a record allocation of ₹10,134 crore announced for the state. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said this marks a significant increase compared to last year and is nearly eleven times higher than the average annual allocation made during 2009–14.
The minister highlighted that railway projects worth over ₹92,000 crore are currently underway in the state. Since 2014, Andhra Pradesh has seen extensive expansion of rail infrastructure, including new track construction, complete electrification, station redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat scheme, and improved train services such as Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains.
Vaishnaw also emphasized the importance of the proposed Hyderabad–Chennai bullet train project, which is expected to drastically reduce travel time and act as a major economic corridor for the region. He added that passenger safety systems and the Visakhapatnam railway zone are progressing steadily, with the Centre working closely with the state government to ensure timely completion of all projects.
