The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) has approached Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him not to permit six party MPs to separate from the organization amid growing speculation of a split. A delegation comprising Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut and three Lok Sabha MPs met the Speaker in New Delhi and submitted a formal representation regarding the matter.
The development comes after six MPs failed to attend a parliamentary party meeting despite a whip issued by the party leadership. Following their absence, Shiv Sena (UBT) issued show-cause notices seeking an explanation. Reacting strongly, Sanjay Raut accused the MPs of defying party discipline and warned of political consequences. The episode has intensified speculation about internal differences within the party and the possibility of further political realignments in Maharashtra.
