U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized Israel's recent airstrike on Beirut, urging all sides to exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions in the region. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the attack should not have taken place at a time when efforts toward a peace agreement involving Iran were reportedly nearing a crucial stage. He emphasized the importance of preserving regional stability and preventing actions that could derail ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
While reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself, Trump argued that the alleged provocation was relatively minor and did not result in significant loss of life or property. He urged Israel to refrain from further military operations in Lebanon and also called on Hezbollah and other groups to avoid attacks against Israel. His remarks came after an Israeli strike targeted a building in southern Beirut, an area known for Hezbollah's influence, amid continuing discussions over a potential agreement aimed at reducing hostilities in the region.
