Rajya Sabha MP and journalist Sagarika Ghose has said that a recent Supreme Court clarification regarding the selection of counting staff for the West Bengal elections marks a setback for State Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The issue comes amid an ongoing dispute over electoral procedures in the state.
In a post on social media platform X, Ghose stated that the Supreme Court clarified counting staff must be randomly selected from both Central and State government employees, rather than being restricted to Central or PSU personnel. She added that the Election Commission of India has agreed to comply with the directive, describing it as a favorable development for the All India Trinamool Congress.
