Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 counting, Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has issued clear instructions to party counting agents. She directed them to demand a recount if the BJP secures a narrow lead of 500 to 700 votes in any constituency. During a virtual meeting with party leaders and agents, she stressed the importance of vigilance and coordination throughout the counting process scheduled across 294 constituencies.
Banerjee also advised agents to stay overnight near counting centres to avoid delays and ensure early presence on counting day. She expressed confidence that the Trinamool Congress would win over 200 seats but cautioned against complacency. For rural and remote constituencies, she urged candidates and agents to arrive in advance and stay in nearby accommodations to ensure smooth monitoring and prevent any irregularities during counting.
