Russia Elections - Putin Scores a Major Victory

Russia’s ruling United Russia party has secured a decisive victory in the 2026 parliamentary elections, according to preliminary results released after more than 95% of votes were counted. The party received 57.83% of the vote, compared with 49.8% in the 2021 election, marking an increase of about eight percentage points.

United Russia is projected to win 355 of the 450 seats in Russia’s State Duma, the lower house of parliament, allowing the party to retain its constitutional majority. The election was the first parliamentary poll since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
