Parliament’s Budget Session has officially begun, with President Droupadi Murmu addressing both Houses and outlining the government’s priorities and vision. In her address, the President highlighted India’s long-term goal of becoming a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. She stated that the government has completed the construction of four crore houses and provided new LPG connections to over ten crore families. India, she said, now ranks first globally in food grain production and second in the aquaculture sector, reflecting strong growth in agriculture and allied sectors.
President Murmu also underlined major reforms undertaken in the manufacturing sector, which have significantly boosted exports and strengthened the economy. She noted that these initiatives have helped India gain global recognition and economic momentum. Following the President’s address, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha on February 1. Ahead of the Budget, the Economic Survey will be tabled in Parliament, offering a detailed overview of the country’s economic performance and future outlook. The Budget Session is expected to witness key discussions on economic policies and development priorities.
