Telangana Gets Major EV Charging Boost

Telangana is set to significantly expand its public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, with the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) inviting tenders for the establishment, operation, maintenance, upgrading and commercial management of 369 public EV charging stations. Of these, 200 stations will be developed across Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal areas in six clusters, while another 169 stations will be established at 16 locations across the erstwhile Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts under the TGNPDCL jurisdiction. The contracts for both projects will run for 10 years.

TGREDCO said the expansion is aimed at supporting the rapidly growing EV market and creating long-term business opportunities for private Charge Point Operators (CPOs). The EV charging tariff has been fixed at ₹13 per unit, excluding GST, for the entire contract period. The Hyderabad project will require chargers to maintain at least 95% uptime. The 169-station project will also cover survey, design, supply, civil works, installation, testing and commissioning, followed by 10 years of operations and maintenance. Pre-bid meetings for the two projects will be held on September 7, while bids can be submitted from September 8 to September 22 through the Telangana e-procurement portal.
