

The Election Commission of India has announced that strong voter turnout was recorded in both West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. By 3 PM, West Bengal reported 78.77% polling, while Tamil Nadu recorded 70% voting. Officials said polling has been smooth in most areas.
In West Bengal, several districts saw very high participation. South Dinajpur recorded the highest with 81.49%, followed by Paschim Medinipur at 81.07%, Jhargram at 81.04% and Birbhum at 80.22%. Other districts like Murshidabad, Darjeeling and Malda also showed strong turnout ranging between 76% and 79%.
In Tamil Nadu, Namakkal led with 76.43% polling. Karur, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur also recorded above 75% voting. Other districts such as Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Kanchipuram, Coimbatore, Kallakurichi and Tiruchirappalli also showed healthy voter participation, reflecting strong public engagement in the election process.
