Speaking to the media at BRK Bhavan, Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the Congress party had submitted a representation to the State Election Commission regarding the SIR process. He alleged that several BJP MPs, including G Kishan Reddy, had won elections with bogus votes and claimed that a similar voter deletion exercise carried out in other states was now being planned in Telangana.
Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the SIR process had already been implemented in 14 states and Union Territories, resulting in the removal of nearly 5.90 lakh votes. He alleged that the exercise had altered political equations in several regions and accused the BJP government of attempting to remove secular votes. He urged Booth Level Officers to conduct field verification transparently by visiting households at least three times and stressed that Supreme Court guidelines should be followed in matters related to overseas voters. He also called for measures to ensure that minor and poor voters do not face inconvenience.
