After facing several hurdles, Suriya starrer Karuppu (released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu) finally hit theatres today. Fans were initially disappointed after the scheduled May 14 shows were cancelled. However, the issues were resolved overnight, paving the way for the film’s grand release on May 15.
Fans celebrated enthusiastically outside theatres as director RJ Balaji, Karthi, and Trisha Krishnan visited a theatre in Chennai to interact with moviegoers. Emotional moments from the event, including Trisha hugging RJ Balaji to congratulate him, have gone viral on social media. The film team also thanked Tamil Nadu CM Vijay for granting permission for morning shows, even mentioning “Special Thanks to CM Vijay” in the title cards. Karuppu has now become the first film to refer to Vijay with his political designation after his political entry.
