'I Will Oppose You Too If Promises Are Broken': Irfan Tells Rahul Gandhi During Meeting

Mohammad Irfan, a street vendor who came into the spotlight after a video of him reciting the Preamble to the Constitution during protests at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar went viral, met Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. During the interaction, Irfan said he was not affiliated with any political party and that his priority was the welfare of the country. He reportedly told Rahul Gandhi that if any future government failed to fulfil its promises, he would not hesitate to protest against it as well.

Irfan said he urged Rahul Gandhi to focus on issues affecting migrant workers and daily wage labourers, including low wages, economic hardships and access to basic facilities. He also raised concerns about students dropping out before completing secondary education and the limited accessibility of vocational education such as ITI and polytechnic courses. Speaking about the interaction, Irfan also shared a light-hearted conversation regarding Rahul Gandhi's marriage and said he would have no objection to meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the future. He added that he wished to highlight concerns related to drug trafficking and law enforcement before Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
