Government Prioritises Key Projects; Finance Department Working on Funding Plans

The government is moving quickly to implement decisions taken by the Chief Minister during reviews with various departments. Major focus areas include Polavaram, the Rayalaseema and North Andhra irrigation projects, plans to develop Rayalaseema as a horticulture hub, and key works such as R&B roads, panchayat roads and the Jal Jeevan Mission. The Finance Department is assessing how much funding each of these projects will require.

Officials discussed quarterly financial needs for all priority projects. Similar to how the Handri–Neeva project was completed in 100 days, the government is preparing fast-track plans for other works as well. Some Jal Jeevan Mission payments are pending due to lack of clearance from the Centre, and alternative solutions are being explored.

To improve understanding of PPP models and modern financial practices, the Finance Department will host the “Reimagining Finance Summit” in Visakhapatnam on the 14th and 15th of this month.
