K. Chandrashekar Rao, chief of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, has expressed full support for the Women’s Reservation Bill while voicing serious concerns over the proposed delimitation process. During a meeting with party leaders K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, KCR stated that the party would not accept any move that leads to injustice for southern states. He recalled that the party had already passed a resolution in the Assembly during its first term supporting women’s reservation and confirmed that BRS MPs would extend support to the bill in the Rajya Sabha.
However, KCR emphasized that the party would take a final decision on the delimitation bill only after a thorough review of its provisions. He pointed out that southern states currently hold about 24% of Lok Sabha seats and insisted that this share should not decrease, instead suggesting a 50% increase. He warned that delimitation based on the 2011 Census could severely disadvantage southern states and directed party members not to take any hasty decisions until a comprehensive analysis is completed.
