Congress, BRS Have an Understanding in Land Loot, Says Payal Shankar

BJP MLA Payal Shankar alleged that the Congress and BRS are following an “understanding politics” in Telangana and accused both parties of misleading the public over land-related issues. Speaking to the media at the BJP state office on Monday, Shankar claimed that while BRS was earlier in power and Congress is currently governing the state, both parties have been protecting each other on alleged land-related irregularities. He also criticised the political exchanges between the two parties, alleging that public appearances outside farmhouses were being used to create a political impression rather than address people’s concerns.

Shankar further alleged that Congress had promised action against alleged irregularities linked to the previous government’s Dharani land-record system but was now continuing similar practices through Bhu Bharathi. He challenged the Congress government to order an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into alleged land deals during the ten-year BRS rule if it was serious about the issue. Shankar said the BJP would take what he described as the record of the alleged actions of both the BRS and Congress governments to the people and explain its allegations across the state.
