Training sessions for District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh began at Ananthagiri Haritha Resort in Vikarabad district. The event was attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Sridhara Babu and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and APCC President Y. S. Sharmila, among others. Speaking at the inauguration, CM Revanth Reddy said the Congress party was formed before India’s independence and played a key role in achieving freedom. He noted that the training program is taking place at a time when there are alleged attempts to weaken or change the Constitution. He urged DCC presidents to use the opportunity wisely, work with everyone and avoid suppressing dissent. He emphasized unity and teamwork.
He recalled the sacrifices of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He praised Sonia Gandhi’s commitment to the party and Rahul Gandhi’s long padyatra. He said Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s padyatra and welfare programs should be highlighted as Congress successes. He also mentioned that Y. S. Sharmila completed a 3,000-km padyatra in Telangana and is working hard for the party in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister stated that collective effort helped Congress grow from a small vote share to 40% and return to power. He said 4.2 million digital memberships were registered across 119 constituencies. He added that well-performing DCC presidents were given MLA opportunities and active members received corporation posts. He clarified that Congress has no quotas, only merit. He warned against misuse of positions and stressed maintaining party trust. He pointed out that the vote share gap increased from 2% in Assembly elections to 4% in Parliament elections and 12% in Municipal elections. He credited Congress for better representation of BCs and OBCs. He said a caste census was conducted after 100 years and SC categorization was implemented. He advised leaders to avoid lobbying and focus on solving public issues. Revanth Reddy said he rose from ZPTC to CM over 16 years with Congress support and called for strengthening the party in both states.
