I’d Rather Retire Than Do Films I Don’t Like: Taapsee Pannu

Actress Taapsee Pannu, known for choosing female-led and content-driven films, is currently busy promoting her latest project, ‘Gandhari’. She recently shared her thoughts on the growing trend of big films driven by violence and shock value. Looking back at the movies released in 2015, Taapsee said that period felt like a dream phase for her and added that she might not have had a career if she were starting out today. She also revealed that after watching a film with her family recently, she felt that retiring would be better than making movies she did not believe in.

Taapsee said she loves her profession but cannot blindly accept films she does not like. According to her, the films an actor chooses ultimately define their filmography, which is why she gives greater importance to the work she leaves behind than to following current trends. Meanwhile, ‘Gandhari’, directed by Devashish Makhija and starring Taapsee in the lead role, premiered on Netflix on September 3. Set in the fictional town of Joypura, the film follows the struggle of a blind mother after her daughter goes missing.
