Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the government aims to develop Amaravati on par with Hyderabad. He interacted with farmers of the capital region at the Secretariat’s Block-5 conference hall and discussed the future plans for the capital city.
Chandrababu observed that the 29 villages currently designated under the Amaravati capital zone are not sufficient for building a full-fledged capital city. He explained that with the existing area, Amaravati would develop only at the level of a municipality. To transform it into a modern capital, additional land acquisition would be necessary, he told the farmers.
He requested farmers to extend their cooperation to the development process and said their support is crucial for Amaravati’s long-term growth. He advised farmers to request the Centre to extend capital gains tax exemption for another two years. He also suggested that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman be directly approached during her visit to the state.
Chandrababu assured that the newly formed three-member committee would address all issues raised by farmers in a timely manner.
