The Telugu dubbed version of Mohanlal’s highly anticipated thriller Drishyam 3 has landed in legal trouble ahead of its OTT release. A rights dispute regarding the Telugu version prompted Rajkumar Theatres Private Limited and filmmaker Sripriya to approach the Madras High Court. The petition claims that the Telugu rights of the Drishyam franchise belong exclusively to them and that releasing the third installment as a dubbed version violates those rights.
After hearing the arguments, the Madras High Court issued an interim stay on the OTT release of the Telugu dubbed version until further hearings. The legal battle involves Aashirvad Cinemas, director Jeethu Joseph, Panorama Studios, and Pen Studios. Rajkumar Theatres has also warned distributors, financiers, and OTT platforms against entering into any agreements related to the Telugu rights of Drishyam 3 until the matter is resolved in court.
