The crime thriller Daayra, starring Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, is gearing up for its digital premiere. The film, which was released in theatres on September 18, will begin streaming on Netflix from November 13. Prithviraj, who gained recognition among Telugu audiences with Salaar, plays a police officer in the film. Kareena Kapoor appears in another pivotal role.
The story is set in Delhi, where the rape and murder of a young woman named Ragini creates widespread outrage. Deputy Commissioner of Police Raman Kumar, played by Prithviraj, investigates the case and arrests four suspects. Seeking swift justice, he and his team kill the accused in an encounter, earning public appreciation. However, the Human Rights Commission raises concerns and orders an investigation. A special investigation team led by vigilance officer Ajooni Kohli, played by Kareena, is tasked with determining whether the encounter was genuine or staged. The film explores the investigation and the truth behind the controversial incident. Although it draws inspiration from real-life cases such as the Nirbhaya and Disha incidents, its theatrical response was reportedly underwhelming. Its reception on OTT remains to be seen.
